Getting checked out by an HMOttie

And let's just let the good times keep rolling with another friend of mine ripping it up on his late-night talk show debut

Hannibal Buress on Craig Ferguson! Also, he just won Funniest Person in Chicago! I miss hanging out with him in New York, man.

He is funny as hell.

And just like that, my wish for edginess and hipness is fulfilled...

FINALLY watched this clip of my friend Kyle Kinane making his debut on Carson Daly WHERE HE TOTALLY KILLED AND WAS HILARIOUS and did some of my favorite bits from his act.

Awesome.

Kyle, you fucking rule. Seriously. Man. This makes me so damn happy.

The moment, Christmas 2005, with my sister's family

I was in New York that year, which I don't regret,
but I also think I'll let this picture serve as a reminder
of what happens when you surround yourself with pure love.

(My God, I better write something hip and edgy soon
or I'm going to have to change this site's slogan to:

SO AWESOME YOU JUST MIGHT
CONFUSE HER WITH ANNE GEDDES
AND PUNCH HER IN THE FACE)

This will take 10 minutes of your life and change a filmmaker's forever

UPDATE: He didn't win - but he came close so thank you.

Bobby Miller says more at his Web site: www.riggedproductions.com

You're the best. Thanks for trying.

***

Hey there - do you have an email address from one of these schools or know someone who does? (Keep reading even if you don't...)

Brooklyn College
The City College of New York
Columbia University
Cooper Union
Fordham
Hunter College
The New School
New York University
Pratt Institute
School of Visual Arts
St. John's
Purchase College
Sarah Lawrence College
Queens College

Here's the deal:

My friend Bobby Miller is a broke filmmaker (in his final year at Columbia University). He's a good guy. He's a talented guy. He's up against 9 other finalists to win $10K to make a film that's important to him. He's so close to getting this money - and how cool would it be to be a part of helping him get it? Will take very little time at all - I just did it, and all I ever do is bitch and moan about how I have no time - so yeah, that's how easy it is.

A bonus: The film he's trying to make also happens to be about masturbation and an alien baby, so yep. He's so close to winning this money and if you've got 10 minutes (maybe even less) you can help him. Making this film would be so great for him, so huge, we've got to help him win - he's so close! Here's how.

1) If you have an email at one of those schools just go to http://massify.com, register and then click on competition & search for "TUB" his film, and vote for it. Disregard where it says you have to be a student filmmaker, all you need is an email address from one of those schools.

2) If you don't have an email address from one of those schools but this intricately crafted post has touched your very soul, then just email Bobby directly at thebmill@gmail.com. He'll be able to hook you up with an invite. Just say, Hey gimme an invite - I want to help you out!

3) Cool. You did a very good deed, helping out a filmmaker, and that's awesome of you.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
Mandy

PS You can watch a short film pitch for the movie at: tubthemovie.com

You can read the script, see a pitch video, read a serious letter as to why Bobby wants to make this film here: riggedproductions.com/tub/why.html

Thanks for your time!

Act V of Rock Band Band is finally online!

Wherever you go, there you are

So I don't use comments here

but check it out, you can comment in the discussion board for this important piece I did today in The Post about Matt Damon, unhealthy 2 a.m. fantasies and the state of global sexy affairs.

Be sure to click through the photo gallery to see where different brands of sexy are identified.

And yes, on the board you can suggest your own nominees, like say

Kind of looks like a psycho killer sexy: Ryan Gosling.

Really get back at your father sexy: Marilyn Manson.

Kind of looks like Rosie O'Donnell sexy: Artie Lange.

And well, you get the idea. Article, photo gallery and discussion board here.

I'm in a mockumentary on VH-1 with Kurt Loder - world premiering tonight!

From the lovely producer Bex Schwartz:

Hey all you rock and rollers:
I wrote and directed my very first documentary that's sort of one part "Meet the Rutles," one part "Behind the Music" and many, many parts of kickawesomeness. It's a mock-documentary, and it rocks. It's a rockumockumentary. It's about the most legendary band ever to rock out on plastic instruments. They're not just any band ... They're ROCK BAND BAND.

The world premiere of ROCK BAND COMETH: THE ROCK BAND BAND STORY is this Sunday, November 11th, at 8pm on VH1 Classic. Narrated by Kurt Loder and featuring many rock and roll luminaries like Dave Mustaine, Dee Snider, Amy Lee, Mark Goodman (from MTV!), Anthony DeCurtis, Tesla, KT Tunstall, Andrew WK and many more, ROCK BAND COMETH chronicles the rise and fall and the subsequent additional risings and fallings of ROCK BAND BAND. Please do tune in!

So!

Rat-to-zombie resuscitation

I love this

and man do I love the reactions I've gotten from sending it to people.

(My favorite from my friend who just had a baby in Illinois: "You have no idea how much I needed to hear that right now." Another from a friend who is stuck in a rut: "I am going to watch this every single day!" Another from a girl who was first sent it when times were especially hard: "Makes me cry every time I see it.")

My old intern the delightful, brilliant, stupendous can't get enough of her Karen the Magnificent is the one who first sent this to me as a thank you for helping her out with life as an 18-year-old.

When I watched it, I felt chills. It's one of those things that sometimes is exactly what you need to hear right at that moment.

And I'm not that kind of girl. I hate chain things. But man, I love this.

So here is one for you.

While I'm mostly updating new pieces

on the writing page now, here is this week's important Naughty Nurse column and a fun preview story I had in Saturday about the New York Comedy Festival.

The only leopard print cowboy hat that really understands me

My dear friend Amy Lighter who makes me happy to be alive again and again and again

moved to the Netherlands with her gorgeous family.

And we are treated with this new blog.

Amy is not only a kick-ass lawyer who fights for the people, she is also a genuine friend who even though we might not talk for weeks or months at a time I can always call her up to have her listen to something I'm working on in writing or comedy and 100 times out of 100, her feedback makes it better.

Thanks, Amy Lighter.

And what a rack. Seriously.
