I got some news today about someone who I care for dearly. He's having a rough time and is in the hospital. I really love him and wish, as I'm sure lots of people do, they could do more right now.

So here's a request. Maybe you know someone who is having a rough time. Maybe you haven't talked to them in a while. Maybe you're busy.

Just be there for them. Call them even though you don't have to. Send a card. Drop them an email. Tell them how much you love that one awesome thing they did 10 years ago and how you'll never forget it.

You know, when I was in Maine I bought this silly little card with a picture of a young girl in the rain. She's gazing delighted, totally encompassed by joy at the rain.

The card reads:

"Then, when it seems we will never smile again, life comes back."
